The Blue School

Craig was a man of such contrasts and a true gem of a human.  My memories of him are not confined to one particular incident or story but to many different moments.  It was not uncommon to have a conversation whereby in the first half he'd be telling you about a fart that he blamed on a student and laughed long and hard about, the philosophical book that he'd been reading or knew about and the curry side dish that he was picking up for the dog on his way home from work on a Friday.  Craig was funny and positive and kind and caring and loved his job whether it be the science he was teaching or the psychology, 6th form or bottom set year 9's.  Craig volunteered to help with our sports teams which was fantastic.  His coaching philosophy was simple - 'tonk it' was his go-to phrase which he applied in equal measure whether he was coaching girls rounders or boys football.  This was also his style of play in the Friday staff football - he frequently 'tonked it' right over the fence and into the bank of brambles behind the astroturf.  Sometimes it even went a little bit near the goal when he tried this (but not often).  He was much loved by all who knew him and will be sorely missed.
