Teaching with Craig at St Dunstans

Created by Colin & Jacqui 3 years ago

I first met Craig when he came to teach Science at St Dunstans. Craig and I taught Life Science but unlike most schools we also had a Rural Science dept which worked hand in hand with Biology. This gave Craig the opportunity to have a more 'hands on' approach with actual living things. We went on several courses together learning many new things but more importantly sampling different beers. We also had a regular appointment with other colleagues at the local pub every Friday lunchtime. We did have quite a lot of fun as a staff as well as getting the best from our pupils with dedication and hard work.

Even though Craig left St Dunstans to go to Wells Blue School contact was not lost as Craig & Cathy became our neighbours living only 9 doors down the lane. 9 doors in a city is less than a stones throw but here in the country it is about a mile although, after each drunken dinner party that we shared together, walking home from Craig & Cathy's house did seem more like 5 miles. Jacqui and I sometimes shared walks with Craig & Cathy over the moors with them bringing Snitter and us with our dog Muffin.

Sadly (for us) Craig's career took him next to Devon and although we visited each other on several occasions inevitably close contact became less frequent. Sadly both Snitter and Muffin eventually moved on to a better place but I was pleased to hear that Craig & Cathy then got 2 terriers called Bailiey & Snowy. We also stayed with terriers but brached out to a different breed Called Sporting Lucas Terriers (see photo) called Bramble, Holly and Ivy.

Enough from me. Here's to a lovely man who enjoyed life and helped so many children to get the most out of their lives.
